Our hearts are broken to see the devastation that Helene left in the western part of our state. While it is vital to pray - for those who need aid, for the emergency workers, and for those who have homes, possessions, and loved ones - I know that many of us want to help practically as well.

Here are a few Christian organizations you can support to help meet the needs of those affected by this storm:

Samaritan's Purse - They are led by Billy Graham's son, Franklin, and are already based in Boone. https://www.samaritanspurse.org/

Baptists On Mission - The humanitarian arm of the Southern Baptist in North Carolina. You can donate money or sign up to volunteer to go help out - https://baptistsonmission.org/.../Disast.../Hurricane-Helene.

@summitrdu is collecting the following items this week. You can drop them off at their Brier Creek location during office hours Wednesday - Friday or at any location on Sunday morning.
• Large contractor trash bags
• Shovels
• Gloves (heavy-duty for cleanup)
• Surface cleaner
• Mops and buckets
• Generators
• Paper towels
• Flashlight with batteries
• Portable phone chargers
• Grab-and-go snacks
• Powdered electrolyte mixes
• Personal hygiene products
• Pet food
• Baby formula
• Diapers

Local Businesses Donating Proceeds to help:

@southernsugarbakery has made a special set of cookies with all proceeds going to help people in Western NC. southernsugarbakery.com

@tworoosters has made a special flavor of ice cream (Appalachian Apple Stack Cake) that will be available starting Wednesday for the month of October. All proceeds go to hurricane relief in the NC mountains.

@solacoffee is giving 10% of their sales all week to Samaritan's Purse.
